U18s | Young Anchors demolish Darlington

Stockton Town U18’s progressed into the next round of the FA Youth Cup in an unbelievable manner, beating Darlington 9-0 on Wednesday night.

After causing chaos on the wing throughout the opening 10 minutes, Joe Kennedy opened the scoring – heading home a Luca McHugh corner.

In the 20th minute, Jaedon Faulkner found the scoresheet when he beat off a number of tackles, eventually firing into the top corner with his weak foot.

Nine minutes later, Paddy Davis’ side had a third when Seb Waller met a wonderful cross from Harvey Parkinson, and lofted a header over the goalkeeper.

Faulkner was then hacked to ground, after his close ball control beat his man inside the box. The midfielder stepped up and comfortably found the bottom corner to add a fourth for the young Anchors.

Right on the brink of half-time, striker Callum Young added a fifth with a nice half-turn and finish from close range.

Four minutes after the restart, Faulkner had his second hat-trick in as many games in the competition, latching onto a loose ball inside the box and firing into the empty net.

Jaedon had himself a fourth in the 63rd minute, when he followed up on an effort that was well saved by the goalkeeper, slotting home the rebound to give Stockton a seventh.

Luca McHugh took aim from the edge of the box and wonderfully found the corner with a sublime strike, making the scoreline 8-0.

Eight minutes from the games closure, substitute defender Joe Rogers topped off the game with another wonderful effort from outside the area.

The young Anchors will find out their opponents for the next round on Monday afternoon, and after scoring 17 goals in their first two games, they’ll be a team a majority of sides will want to avoid in the second qualifying round of the prestigious competition.
