The First Words: Ryan Barrett

Ryan Barrett took the time to speak to Stockton Town media following his loan move to the Club.

Barrett opened by exclaiming his delight to join up the Anchors: “I’m really happy. I came down on Friday to meet with the manager and I’m looking forward to hitting the ground running straight away.

“Obviously it is just a short-term deal but I can’t wait to get going, meet all the boys properly and get on the pitch.”

The right-back then follows up by describing what that first meeting with Michael Dunwell was like: “It was quality. The area is quite new to me, but I’ve spoken to the gaffer a few times and then came down and got the deal done really quickly which I’m over the moon about.

“He’s shown us around the fantastic facilities and I’m really impressed with them, and as I said, I’m just looking forward to get going.”

The former Welsh youth international explains what the Anchors fans can expect to see from him on the pitch: “I’m always up and down the wing. I like to get forward as much as I can and they should look out for my balls into the box.

“But as well as that, I take pride in my defending and hopefully I can help the lads as soon as possible.”

During his time at Newcastle, Ryan played with a couple of current Anchors, which he explains by stating: “I know a couple of the boys already, both Nathan Harker and Owen Gallacher I’m familiar with and I know that the style of football here is really good and the Club are doing well in the league so it’s all exciting.”

With Josh Baggs expecting to miss some time through injury, Ryan goes straight into the squad for Tuesday’s game at FC United of Manchester, which he looks ahead to, saying: “I cannot wait, I just want to be regularly playing football, so to have a game as quick as possible is ideal and I’ll be looking to make a good impression and show everyone what I can do.”
