The First Words: Amar Purewal

Amar Purewal has spoken after joining Stockton Town as the club’s first signing of the summer.

The 35-year-old Striker joins from Hebburn Town, and immediately expressed his delight on joining the Anchors: “I’m really happy. When a club like Stockton come in, it’s hard to turn it down. I’m happy to get it over the line and now I just can’t wait to get started.”

Purewal joins up with his twin brother, Arjun, as he explains how he’s wanted to play alongside him for a while: “We last played together at Darlington nearly 15 years ago now. His results have always been the first thing I check after a game and it’ll be nice to be in the same changing room. He’s a big reason as to why I’m here and it’s exciting times.”

The physical forward then describes his playstyle, for the information of supporters who might not have seen him before: “Hopefully, supporters can expect a lot of goals from me. I give everything for the team, I will always work hard, and try to win headers, I like to be physical up at the top and be a constant threat against any opposition.”

Amar closes by talking us through his past experiences with some of the squad, and again expressing his excitement to get started: “I’ve played against most of this squad a lot over the years so I know them well, I know how I can fit in. I’ve played with Thommo [Stephen Thompson] before and he’s a great player, one of the best I’ve ever played with and I’m excited to join forces with him again, and get started with everything.”
