Stockton Town 2-1 Warrington Town | 21st March 2026
Michael Sweet and a rare goal from Lewis King gave Stockton a 2-0 lead, before a lapse of concentration allowed the visitors a goal in the 55th minute.
A powerful first-half from the Anchors began almost immediately, as Adam Nicholson rose within the opening minute to head towards goal, only for his effort to be cleared off the line.
Stephen Thompson was next to pressure the goalkeeper into action to block his half-volley.
Jake Petitjean then delivered a cross into the centre of the goal to find Adam Nicholson, but his strike was too high to trouble the target.
At the other end, Nathan Harker produced a comfortable save following a Warrington corner, gathering the ball with ease.
The visitors came close to a breakthrough after finding space behind the back-line, but their effort sailed high over the crossbar.
The first goal of the game arrived just before half-time, and it was a deserved one for the Anchors. Josh Scott’s quality cross found Michael Sweet across the box, and he stretched furthest to give Stockton the lead.
Half-time: Stockton Town 1-0 Warrington Town
The second half began at a fast pace, and it wasn’t long before the Anchors doubled their lead. Lewis King had an incredible drive through the Warrington midfield and defence before firing the ball into the net with no fear.
Warrington responded just minutes later, pulling a goal back after a spilled ball from Nathan Harker allowed Kallan Murphy to poke home.
Both sides pushed on with intensity for the remainder of the half, with the visitors applying pressure on the Anchors, who remained determined to hold their lead.
Lewis King came close to adding a second to his tally, but this time he was unable to find a clear way past the goalkeeper.
Warrington continued to push forward, but couldn’t find the room to call Nathan Harker into action, with credit to the Stockton defence.
The Anchors’ strong defensive efforts throughout the second-half paid off, as Michael Dunwell’s side held to secure a well-earned three points.
Full-time: Stockton Town 2-1 Warrington Town
The Anchors are back in action on Tuesday evening, as they hopefully head to FC United of Manchester.
