MATCH REPORT | Stocksbridge Park Steels 1-1 Stockton Town

Stockton Town were held for a one-all draw in a rain-soaked Stocksbridge.

Adam Nicholson opened the scoring in the 73rd minute for Stockton, but the lead lasted just three minutes when Luke Rawson volleyed home an equaliser.

Michael Dunwell named three changes to the side that lost to Leek Town on Tuesday, with Amar Purewal, Stephen Thompson and Ryan Barrett all getting a start.

Stockton nearly found a goal within the first 90 seconds, when Lewis King zipped an effort into Ben Townsend from the edge of the area.

Stephen Thompson did find the back of the net after seven minutes, but the linesman was quick to raise his flag for offside.

James Morris, who got two goals at the MAP Group UK Stadium in the reverse fixture, was played through on goal, and his shot had to be kept out by the leg of Nathan Harker to keep the scores level.

Despite a spell of Stockton danger, the hosts thought they had the opener, when Morris poked an effort past Nathan Harker, only for Owen Gallacher to meet the ball on the line with a ridiculously good sliding challenge.

Half-time: Stocksbridge Park Steels 0-0 Stockton Town

The Anchors opened the second half in dominant fashion, seeing a vast majority of the ball, with a couple of half-chances being missed.

But in the 73rd minute, Adam Nicholson finally opened the scoring, getting the ball at his feet, and taking on a handful of defenders before shooting back across his body and finding the target.

But the lead lasted just three minutes, when a cross from the right-wing was powered home by Luke Rawson, who did well to get the better of the Stockton defenders around him.

Deep into added time, Josh Scott refused to give up on a ball inside the box, somehow poking it towards a wide open Michael Sweet, who saw two shots incredibly stopped by Ben Townsend, securing a valuable point for his side.
