Final preparations are underway this Saturday as Stockton town FC host Whitby town FC in their last pre-season fixture before the 2025/26 Northern Premier league campaign kicks off.

The Anchors were defeated by National League North’s Scarborough Athletic last weekend, with a harsh 4-0 scoreline unreflective of an encouraging Stockton performance.

Next week it all kicks off for real, with a trip to Prescot Cables only a week away now. Supporters can book their place on the M&D Travel supporters coach to Merseyside here.

THE OPPOSITION

Whitby Town have had a strong pre-season campaign to date, with a dominant 5-1 win against Blyth Spartans falling most recently.

Gary Liddle’s side have made a number of new additions, alongside a strong retained list – featuring former Anchors forward Matty Tymon who returned to the Seasiders late last season.

New faces at Whitby include midfielder Harley Dawson from Pickering Town, defender Alex Nelson from Newton Aycliffe, winger James Harrison from West Auckland and standout winger Jarrett Rivers from Darlington.

However the Yorkshire-based side have also been boosted by the return of forward Jake Charles, who missed a majority of last season dealing with an injury.

PRE-MATCH QUOTES

Speaking after defeat against Scarborough Athletic, manager Michael Dunwell spoke on this final pre-season test:

“We obviously need to be cautious ahead of Prescot, we don’t want to pick up any injuries, but we’ll focus on ourselves and get ready appropriately for that trip to Prescot.”
