Stockton Town’s push for the Play-Offs continues as they welcome Warrington Town to the MAP Group UK Stadium.

The Anchors bounced back from their deflating home defeat to FC United of Manchester two weeks ago with a solid 1-0 win at Ilkeston Town last Saturday. Josh Scott once again got himself on the scoresheet again to make it six in his last seven games.

Michael Dunwell will be boosted by the return of Jake Petitjean to the matchday squad. The midfielder returned to training this week.

THE OPPOSITION

Warrington Town are currently 8th but still have a faint glimmer of making the Play-Offs. Although things would significantly need to go their way for them to do so. Heading into the game they are seven points and have played two more games than 5th-place Gainsborough Trinity.

Still even the mere mention of the Play-Offs is impressive given the start they made to life back in the NPL following relegation from the National League North. Heading into the reverse fixture back in November, the Yellows had just been thumped 8-0 at Hebburn Town and were close to the relegation zone.

Since then their away form has remained one of their downfalls but it has picked up slightly with four wins, including in their most recent away trip at Lancaster City.

Players to watch for Warrington Town include Reece Daly who has nine goals for the season. Striker Max Thompson, who made a permanent switch from Chorley earlier in the season, has struck 6 in 15 games. There’s also the experienced Josh Vela who started his career with Bolton Wanderers while they were still in the Premier League.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

This season’s reverse fixture was the first time the two sides had met.

PRE-MATCH QUOTES

Looking forward to the game in his programme notes, Michael Dunwell said:

“We go into the game in a confident mood. We have only lost two games since the start of December. Hopefully we can get a big crowd to make some noise to help us. We need all the help we can get.”
