Stockton Town enter the Isuzu FA Trophy on Saturday, welcoming NPL West Division’s Lower Breck.

Stockton come into the game on the back of a seven game unbeaten run in the league, sitting second in the table following a draw against Bamber Bridge last week.

The result last weekend was a frustrating one though, after goals from Glen Butterworth and Michael Sweet gave the Anchors a somewhat comfortable two-goal lead.

That was until a difficult 10 minute spell led to the visitors pulling the deficit back, taking home a point.

Josh Scott returns to the squad this weekend after a slight knock, with Adam Nicholson also expecting to return. Glen Butterworth will miss out after coming off injured against Bamber Bridge.

THE OPPOSITION

Lower Breck are based in Merseyside, just a mile away from Liverpool’s home in Anfield. The side are on a remarkable run through the leagues, with four promotions since 2018, and picked up a staggering tally of 106 points in the North West Counties Premier Division last season, still somehow missing out on the league title to Bury.

After winning promotion via the playoffs, they have had an immense start to life in step four. Topping the table in the early stages, they only suffered their first defeat of the season last weekend, with a slender defeat at fellow high-flying Chasetown.

Goalkeeper Theo Roberts is set to make his 150th appearance for Lower Breck against the Anchors, but they will be without valuable defender Jay Cooper who was dismissed against Chasetown last week.

PRE-MATCH QUOTES

Following Saturday’s draw with Bamber Bridge, manager Michael Dunwell spoke ahead of the tie by saying:

“We’ll have some players back for the game. It was frustrating [against Bamber Bridge] and we’ll work to put things right, but we’re still in a good position and that’s important.”
