Stockton Town begin their Easter Weekend with the biggest game of their season so far when they host fellow Play-Off hopefuls Gainsborough Trinity.
Ahead of the game there’s just a point between the sides with Gainsborough sitting in 5th, while the Anchors are in 6th.
Stockton slipped out of the Play-Offs following last Saturday’s 3-0 defeat at Hyde United which will go down as one of the worst of the season.
THE OPPOSITION
Gainsborough Trinity occupy the final Play-Off after they moved ahead of the Anchors following their goalless draw at home to Warrington Rylands.
That made it back-to-back home games without a goal after their 1-0 defeat to Bamber Bridge in midweek.
Although Russ Wilcox’s outfit are solid at the back as goalkeeper David Robson recorded his 15th clean sheet of the campaign which puts him level with Hednesford Town custodian Tony Breeden with the most in the league. With 35 goals conceded this season, only FC United and Hednesford have a more miserly defence.
In addition to Robson, former Whitby defender Harrison Beeden adds to that solidity. Signed from Lancaster in the summer, he has been more than a adequate replacement after they lost Dylan Cogill in the summer and Will Lancaster early in the campaign.
Sisa Tuntulwana can most likely be regarded as their best performer this season. A ‘Swiss-Army knife’ of a footballer, the former Grantham player has the versatility to play both in defence and up front.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
This will be the fourth meeting between the two clubs.

VIEW FROM THE OPPOSITION
Speaking after last Saturday’s draw with Warrington Rylands, Russ Wilcox said:
“They (Stockton) got beat so they’ll be hurting after that. It’s always a tough game against Stockton they are a really good outfit and that’s why they are up there. It’s going to go to the wire I think.”
PRE-MATCH QUOTES
Looking ahead to the game, Michael Dunwell said:
“We have to move on quickly to a massive weekend, there’s only a point between us and Gainsborough. Every team we’re playing against has got so much to play for as have we.
“This is probably the biggest game of the season.”
