Stockton Town enter the Durham Challenge Cup on Saturday as they make the short trip to Farringdon Detached.
The Anchors enter the encounter after an extremely frustrating evening on Tuesday, coming from from long trip down to Hednesford Town with no points, but not because of defeat – because the match was called off minutes before kick-off due to floodlight failure, meaning Stockton have to make the near four hour trip all over again.
That followed a very positive weekend though, where Michael Dunwell’s side progressed in the FA Trophy with a very strong win over NPL West high-flyers Lower Breck, after a brace from Michael Sweet helped set-up a trip to Clitheroe in the First Round Proper.
Sweet now has seven goals to his name in only nine games this season, and less than 500 minutes so far.
THE OPPOSITION
Farringdon Detached currently find themselves in the Wearside League Premier Division, sitting third in the table with only one defeat so far in the league.
‘Farra’ come into the game on the back of a four-game winning run, with wins over West Auckland Reserves, Pools Youth, Silksworth CW and Shotton Colliery. They also put an incredible 13 goals past Annfield Plain in a game only a couple of weeks ago.
Keaton Trott and Ben Whitfield’s side have already caused an upset in the opening round of the competition, picking up a victory over Northern League Division Two side Boldon CA 3-1.
Midfielder Kevin Humble is a player for the Anchors to keep an eye on, with nine goals to his name in just 12 appearances, with three Man of the Match awards to go alongside.
Interestingly, Barnsley striker, and League One’s current second top scorer, Davis Keillor-Dunn, is a Match Sponsor for the game, having being born and growing up in the local area.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
Despite the Anchors’ time in the Wearside League not too long ago, the two sides have never met before this weekend.

PRE-MATCH QUOTES
Stockton Town Manager Michael Dunwell has provided his assessment ahead of the clash, stating:
“We’re looking forward to the game. It’s a competition we’ve always wanted to get to the final in, as we feel we are strong enough to do that but have always seemed to falter in recent years. But we will go with a strong squad with the Hednesford game being called off and no midweek next week.”
