Stockton Town today announced goal-scoring midfielder Jake Petitjean as the second new addition the Anchors this summer.
Petitjean is a product of the youth system at Stockton Town, making his first team debut in a cup defeat at Shildon in February 2017, as well as winning the league and County Cup double with our U18’s in 2018.
He went on to make 21 appearances with the first team, including a memorable moment travelling with the squad to Wembley, before signing with Crook Town in late 2018 for more regular game time.
The creative midfielder flourished with the Black & Ambers, scoring plenty of goals and earning a move to Northern League Division One club Newton Aycliffe in late 2019.
Jake became a highly important figure for the Cliffe really quickly, solidifying his place in the squad and constantly providing contributions, as well as captaining the side on a few occasions. Eventually helping them to promotion to the Northern Premier League East Division in 2023.
Petitjean scored six goals in his debut season in step four, playing in a deep midfield role, becoming a very reliable set-piece taker, and helping Newton Aycliffe to a seventh placed finish, narrowly missing out on playoffs in their first season.
But the recent 2024/25 season is where the 25-year-old really made his presence felt, scoring 22 goals and securing the NPL East Division golden boot from midfield, but just missed out on a playoff position on the final day.
Jake now rejoins the Anchors, bringing something different to an already strong and versatile midfield, joining up with NPL East 2023/24 golden boot winner, Amar Purewal, to hopefully bring plenty more goals to the squad.
