INTERVIEW | Ryan Barrett post Lancaster City

Ryan Barrett spoke to Stockton Town media after his impressive debut at Lancaster City on Saturday.

The right-back played all 90 minutes after joining on loan from Alfreton Town last week. He opened by explains his thoughts following the debut result: “I’m over the moon. First-half we were absolutely unplayable but second-half, as they came at us more, we let them back into the game.

They were too comfortable and when they went down to 10-men, it motivated them and we had to keep digging in – but to watch that last minute winner go in was an incredible feeling.”

Barrett then describes how nice it was to fit into the back four straight away: “The lads have been absolutely brilliant since I’ve come in, and I felt really comfortable going in to the game.

It’s an experienced backline and the communication was brilliant, that helped me a lot.”

Having waited for his debut a bit longer than first expected, Ryan credits the extra training sessions in playing a helpful part going into the Lancaster game: “The boys have been really good with me, and I’ve to know them a lot better than I initially expected. The training sessions have been really good and it’s nice to finally get onto the pitch.”

He closes by looking ahead to his home debut on Saturday, when Stockton welcome Warrington Rylands to the MAP Group UK Stadium, stating: “I can’t wait to be honest. I’ve heard good things about the home crowd and it’s what you’re always excited for when joining a new club, making that proper first impression and we’ve got to take this win into that game as we know it’ll be a really tough game.”
