Despite all the odds Stockton Town FC won this FA Vase Semi Final against the huge favourites Marske Utd. It was a victory based on desire and spirit, effort and togetherness and a fair sprinkling of ability. Never has the expression “The Whole is greater than the Sum of its Parts” been more apt than in the last two performances. Marske won the game 2-1 through goals from Liam O’Sullivan after 8 minutes and a Messi like wonder goal by James Fairley early in the second half, with the crucial goal for Stockton coming from the penalty spot through Nathan Mulligan just before half time, but the Anchors 2 goal advantage from the first leg took them to dreamland and Micky Dunwells team will be gracing the Wembley turf on Sunday 20th May. Lots of tears lots of hugging and massive beaming smiles filled the clubhouse which sort of sums the whole club up. Hard to believe how far we’ve come in 9 years let alone the last 2, if you watched a movie with this storyline you would dismiss it as being unrealistic… well its not and we’ve proved it. Lets sell the film rights now… UTA
