Amar Purewal reacts to Stockton Town pre-season debut

Amar Purewal has given his reaction to his to Stockton Town pre-season debut.

The summer signing played around 70 minutes at Newton Aycliffe, finding the target in the first half.

Amar opened by overviewing his first game in Stockton Town colours: “It was enjoyable, the conditions on the pitch were tough to play on, but it was great to get more familiarity with the lads and I definitely enjoyed it.”

After joining the club in May, the forward then exclaimed how his first few months at the club have been: “It honestly feels like I’ve been here forever really. The lads are class, and I’m just trying to get used to how they play and keep settling in. We’ve had a good number of training sessions and now already into the games, it’s come around quick but I’m loving it.”

Purewal found the net after great work from strike partner Josh Scott to create the chance, and he speaks highly on that partnership by saying: “He’s a very good player. He’s still only young and he’s going to get a lot better, and I’m happy to have the chance to help him along the way. I think we can create for each other nicely, we showed that today, and if we can keep that going we will have a lot of success for the club and for ourselves as well.”

Amar closes by looking ahead to the remaining pre-season schedule, and what he’s looking to get out of the six fixtures: “Most important thing is getting the fitness levels up to standard. Then familiarity is also so important, obviously I’ve just come in just playing with them, understanding how everyone plays will be very important and forming good partnerships will help massively.”

The Anchors are back in action on Tuesday evening, with a home fixture against Guisborough Town.
