Stockton Town picked up another point on the road with a score draw at Whitby Town.
Michael Sweet opened the scoring within five minutes, before Jake Charles fired in an equaliser late in the first-half.
Michael Dunwell stuck with the squad from the second-half of Saturday’s game against Stocksbridge Park Steels, naming Jake Petitjean, Stephen Thompson and Michael Sweet into the Starting XI.
Sweet rewarded Dunwell’s decision four minutes in, when Josh Baggs found the forward with a low cross the right-wing, which Sweet forced home under pressure from Shane Bland.
Stockton had a number of good chances in the following moments, with the best of which coming in the 20th minute, when Bland misjudged a long-ball, leaving Michael Sweet an opportunity to strike, but which effort was incredibly blocked on the line by a trailing Gary Liddle’s heel.
A minute later, it was Nathan Harker’s turn to be a hero, when a strike from the back-post was met by the cat-like reactions of Harker who kept out a powerful effort from a few yards away.
Both goalkeepers held a save competition before the break, with a number of good chances all getting kept out by Bland and Harker.
But after a miscommunication in the box, Jake Charles pounced on a ball, and fired high into the corner from close range to equal to the scoring five minutes before the break.
Half-time: Whitby Town 1-1 Stockton Town
To the delights of Harker and Bland, the game drastically died down in the second-half, with defences standing out for a majority of the half.
The Anchors were forced into a number of changes, with Adam Nicholson, Jake Petitjean and Michael Sweet all making way with slight knocks.
Whitby nearly found a late winner, when Donald Chimalilo found a way through the middle of the Anchors backline, but Nathan Harker quickly sprinter off his line and jumped on the ball before Chimalilo could strike at goal.
Substitute Thomas Birtles nearly found a winner for the Anchors, when he had two good connections with a ball both well-blocked from close range, and the points were shared on the evening.
Full-time: Whitby Town 1-1 Stockton Town
The Anchors now, sitting fourth in the standings, have a spare weekend upcoming, before Guiseley visit the MAP Group UK Stadium on Tuesday 16th September.
