FA Vase: Hebburn Town Preview

It’s that time again as the Anchors welcome Hebburn to the Coverall Stadium for the FA Vase Third Round.

There are very few weekends in non-league football quite as special as FA Vase weekend. Something we know well at Stockton having enjoyed a fantastic run to the final last season. Saturday is set to be another ‘belter’ as we come up against fellow Northern League opposition in Hebburn Town.

It is certainly one of the toughest draws in the round with the Hornets currently sitting in 5th in Northern League Division One. Although on Tuesday night they showed their vulnerable side as they went down 3-0 at Dunston UTS.

One league game has already been played between the two this season as an entertaining 2-2 draw was played out back in August.

This game presents the perfect opportunity for Michael Dunwell’s men to return to form. Since their FA Vase win over Ashington in early November the Anchors have lost two league games on the bounce at home to Seaham Red Star and at Dunston. With long lay off, there has been plenty of time to gather the thoughts ahead of this tie. The Vase has had a tendency to bring the best of the Stockton squad and given such difficult opposition it has to if they are to make it through to Round 4.

Unlike regular league games, the fans will make a pivotal difference in this match. Hebburn are bringing down three coach loads of fans and they will bring a raucous atmosphere. If you attended a Vase game last season and you’re thinking about coming tomorrow. Don’t hesitate and come to see what should be a fantastic football match. Your support will be greatly appreciated.

Team News

Michael Dunwell has full squad to choose from which means Kevin Hayes should be set to appear for the first time since his return from Spennymoor Town. Hayes provides a slight ‘wildcard’ for Stockton with his ability to stretch games and make things happen.

Hebburn Town will be missing Craig Malley and Luke Gillespie for the match through injury as well as Mr FA Vase himself Paul Chow.

Admission Prices: £7 Adults, £5 Concessions (65+), £2 Children (£1 if accompanied by an adult.)
