Stockton Town U18 end season with second place finish

Stockton Town U18 have ended their campaign with a second place finish in the JPL East Division.

The Young Anchors were supposed to play their game of the season tomorrow but Goole were unable to field to a team meaning their season came to a premature end.

It has been successful debut season for Paddy Davis at the helm who has been assisted by Kyran Foster and Goalkeeper Coach Mark Bruce.

Commenting on the season, Davis said: “I was delighted to be offered the opportunity to come into the club and to be able to build a new squad for this season.

“The lads we’ve brought in and added to those already here have made massive strides. We have a young team and they have so much more developing to do, that it’s a bright future for the club.

“It’s certainly been one of the best groups I have worked with as a coach, they have been a pleasure to train.”

“We are losing some big players that are second years, but hopefully we will be able to bring in some new exciting young players from around the Stockton area.”

There has been lots of chances for the youngsters to train with the first team.  Jack Spears, Daniel Dryden, Ethan Jones, Jacob Johnson, Tom Birtles, George Scaife and Jamie Ince all trained.

Spears and Birtles also made their debuts for the first team this season.

Outside the league campaign, they reached the FA Youth First Qualifying Round where they lost out 2-1 in a valiant effort at Blyth Spartans.

In the JPL Cup they reached the Quarter Final to eventual league champions and finalists Thorncliffe Villa.

Davis added to his earlier comments: “The biggest achievement is probably the amount of attention we have received from the club as a whole.

“We often are approached by supporters and those involved with the club to praise the lads performances and it’s been great to work so closely with the first team management team.

“They have been instrumental in the enthusiasm the lads have had for the season, because they know that the first team are genuinely tracking their progress.

“If we can get any players in or around that squad, then it’s been a success.”

The lads will be at tomorrow’s home game against Brighouse Town cheering the first team on.
