Stockton Town secure first win of Pre-Season

Stockton Town overcame Sunderland RCA 4-1 for their first win of Pre-Season.

Stephen Thompson’s stunning strike gave the Anchors the lead before Ben Riding equalised for RCA.

Stockton regained the lead before halftime through an own goal.

In the second half new signings Michael Sweet and Michael Fowler got themselves on the scoresheeet to add gloss to the scoreline.

The Anchors starting XI saw Callum Roberts return in goal, Elliott Beddow got a start and Sweet was named to lead the line.

Shortly before the quarter hour mark Stockton had the lead when Thompson produced a half-volley from the top draw.

RCA got themselves on terms in the 25th minute when Riding struck home after neat work following a corner.

Six minutes later Stockton had the lead again when a corner was flicked on by Sweet and an unfortunate RCA defender turned into his own net.

Ten minutes into the second half, Sweet got his goal when he headed in from a set-piece routine.

Stockton had further opportunities to add goals. First Beddow rounded the goalkeeper but the stopper recovered to deny him. Substitute Nathan Mulligan connected with a cross but saw his effort come off the post.

Finally, Stockton had a fourth when Fowler reacted first to tuck in  rebound from a N.Mulligan freekick.

Stockton Town continue their Pre-Season preparations with a short trip to Norton & Stockton Ancients on Saturday,
