Stockton Town got back to winning ways with a victory over North Ferriby.
Michael Sweet opened the scoring within a few minutes of action, before Mikey Roberts and Glen Butterworth sealed the three points in the second half.
Michael Dunwell made one change from last week’s FA Trophy defeat against Bootle as Elliott Beddow came in for Kevin Hayes on the right-wing.
After a quick start from the Anchors, they took the lead with six minutes on the clock when Michael Sweet’s first effort bounced off the post, before the ball heads back out to Lewis King on the right-wing and his inch-perfect cross found Sweet who headed home for his first league goal of the season.Â
North Ferriby had a great chance a few minutes later, when a dangerous counter-attack led to a powerful, whipped cross into the area which narrowly avoided Danny Earl.
The Anchors had a big chance to extend their lead after 22 minutes, when a high-press forced a mistake out of the goalkeeper, but Lewis Exall in the North Ferriby goal reacted quickly to keep out Cameron Painter’s eventual effort.
Michael Sweet had a chance to add to his tally in the 29th minute, when the forward ran onto a long-ball and cut inside from the left-wing, but his effort collided with the woodwork.
North Ferriby had a massive opportunity to level the game before the break, when a cross from the right found Josh Whiteley open in the box, but the attacker somehow put his effort wide of the target from just outside the six yard box.
Half-Time: Stockton Town 1-0 North Ferriby
Stockton started the second-half the better side, and attempted a few long shots but nothing tested Exall in the North Ferriby goal.
But after 67 minutes, the Anchors doubled their lead when Mikey Roberts met a long-ball through the middle, before poking it past the on-rushing goalkeeper and firing into the empty net.
Tom Corner had a good chance to pull one back for the visitors a few minutes later, but he was met by brilliant defending from the Anchors in the box.
It was Stockton who sealed the game, deep into added time, when Glen Butterworth fired a low shot which made its way through the goalkeeper and into the net for his first goal of the season.
