Stockton Town have finally clinched their first victory of this season at Sunderland RCA, winning 1-4.
Stockton flew out of the box with Sonni Coleman making it 1-0 in the opening minute of the match.
Sunderland RCA then fought back, eventually earning an equaliser after Michael Arthur made a mistake allowing O’Neil to round him and tap home to make it 1-1.
Both teams then had chances at each end before Freddie Woodhouse fired in a ball from the right flank. Minutes later, Max Cragg took advantage of a defensive mix up by RCA to tap home and make it 1-3 at half time.
The second half started in torrential rain but both teams missed plenty of chances with the Anchors coming close in the 70th minute, when a free kick was fired into Patton’s hands.
As the match looked all but settled entering the dying minutes, RCA managed to lose possession in midfield with a cross ball falling to Joseph Carter, who then rounded Patton to make it 1-4.
Overall, this was the Anchors best showing so far this season, particularly when came to forcing free kicks. Stockton had five free kicks to Sunderland RCA’s solidary one, which underlines their impressive level of discipline.
Stockton Town are back in action on Saturday at home to Jarrow as they look to push on and make it back to back wins.
