Stockton Town head to Northumberland to face Blyth Spartans in their final road trip of pre-season.
The Spartans are still in the midst of their rebuild following recent back-to-back relegations, but after securing safety last season under new management, Marc Nash’s side finally have a stable side to build around.
Captain Jack Vaulks has played an important role in and around the NPL East level for a while, having a successful stint with Shildon before ending up in NE24.
Ex-Anchor Michael Fowler was a huge success story of last season when he joined from Bishop Auckland, however he’ll miss the game against his former side through a long-term injury.
When Fowler returns, he’ll partner new signing Dan Lanning who was one of the Northern League’s most prolific goalscorers during his time with Newcastle Blue Star.
Jack Walker is another statement signing, securing his signature after a lengthy time with Dunston, and the two standouts arrivals are long-time foes of the Anchors, Robbie Spence and Olly Martin, who both had a tendency to torment the Anchors during their time with Hebburn Town.
The game will prove to be another tough test, as fitness and availability is finally getting back to how Michael Dunwell will want, and a big bounce back will be expected from Tuesday night’s defeat at Horden.
