Stockton Town begin Pre-Season with draw

Stockton Town began their Pre-Season campaign with a creditable 1-1 draw at home to Scarborough Athletic.

Trialist B gave the Anchors the lead before a Trialist was also on target for Scarborough for a score draw.

Manager Michael Dunwell named a twenty-man squad with two trialists and new signings Niall Frampton, Michael Sweet and Michael Fowler all featuring.

Sweet started the game, while Frampton and Fowler played in the second half.

Scarborough almost took an instant lead but Kev Hayes was on hand to clear a shot on the line.

Just before the 20 minute mark, Stockton took the lead when Tom Coulthard sent a fantastic long ball which was taken down and finished emphatically by Trialist B.

Callum Roberts remained sharp in the Anchors goal and made a key save when Harry Green took a low shot which he diverted over the crossbar.

Minutes later Frank Mulhern tried to catch him out but the ball rebounded off the crossbar.

The half-time break saw a multitude of changes for both sides.

With just less than 20 minutes remaining Scarborough found a leveller when a Trialist took down the ball and fired into the near corner.

Stockton Town now face another home Pre-Season Friendly on Wednesday against Northern League Division One outfit Boro Rangers.
