Seventh heaven for Anchoresses on opening day

Talia Korucu scored four goals as Stockton Town Ladies ran out rampant 7-0 winners against Darlington Spraire Ladies on the opening day.

Korucu’s opener inside the opening 30 seconds set the tone for a dominant display from the Anchoresses.

Kaitlyn Bell doubled the lead on 18 minutes. Korucu and Bell completed their braces in the final five minutes of the first half to cap off a perfect first half display.

Korucu completed her hattrick minutes into the second half and ten minutes later she went one better with a fourth.

The scoring was rounded with fifteen minutes to spare when Emma Rose Farrow came off the bench to score her first goal for the club.

There was also a positive debut for Goalkeeper Holly Stainforth who kept a clean sheet on her debut.

Reflecting on a perfect opening day, Manager Chris Murphy said: “A great start to the league campaign. The Ladies controlled the game from the start and showed real composure on the ball and good structure out of possession.”

“We worked on pressing throughout the week and it was put into practice today with numerous turnovers around the Darlington box which created lots of opportunities.”

“It was great for Talia (Korucu) and Kaitlyn (Bell) to start the season on the scoresheet and for Emma (Rose Farrow) scoring her first goal for the club. Holly (Stainforth) kept a clean sheet on her debut after making some excellent will have given her confidence,” Murphy added.
