Striker Michael Sweet got his account open with the second goal in yesterday’s 3-1 win over Pontefract Collieries in the FA Trophy.
The new signing came on just after the hour mark and got the chance through the middle after playing out on the wing in his opening few matches.
Speaking on his goal, Sweet said: “It feels great to get off the mark and I am very pleased with how I played when I came on.â€
Sweet have proven to be an astute signing with his tremendous work rate proving vital. It especially came up trumps on Saturday with Stockton playing with ten men for the majority following Michael Fowler’s red card.
It was his work with Mikey Roberts that lead to his goal with him profiting from the fellow substitute finding him.
On his time so far at Stockton, Sweet said: “I am fitting in well, my initiation went down well and everyone from the coaching and playing side have been excellent with me. They just want me to do well and score goals.â€
Sweet added: “It didn’t really feel like we were playing with ten men. Every player was giving everything for each other.â€
Stockton Town are up against Ponefract Collieries again next Saturday when they make the trip for league meeting.
Sweet looked ahead: “Let’s go get three points and hopefully I am on the scoresheet again.â€
