Michael Sweet: “It’s what I do.”

Michael Sweet was delighted as he returned to the scoresheet with a brace against Scarborough Athletic.

The striker had been off the scoresheet for six matches but a double in the FA Trophy triumph brought his tally to 12 for the season.

“All the lads did brilliant today, and I am buzzing to get back on the scoresheet,” Beamed Sweet.

Both goals were taken excellently and were typical of a player who knows where the back of the net is.

The first saw him sneak in at the back post to tuck in, and the second saw him alive to convert a rebound.

“It was the right place, right time. It’s just what I do,” Sweet said confidently.

In addition to a fine performance from Sweet, fellow forward Michael Fowler was also excellent.

Although he wasn’t on the scoresheet, his tireless work set up the Anchors for the win.

“He did brilliantly. His hold up play was excellent, and he brought other players into the game.

“You know what you get from Fowler he is a battler.”

With that win brings more excitement to Stockton with a place in the FA Trophy Third Round booked for the first time.

There are a number of interesting draws that could pop up in Monday’s draw as the National League sides enter the fray.

“We’re always looking forward to it (the draw). Hopefully we’ll get a decent draw,” Sweet said.
