Michael Fowler pleased with debut goal

Michael Fowler marked his Stockton Town debut in the perfect way with a stoppage time equaliser.

The new signing was given the responsibility to lead the line and he marked the occasion with his first goal for the club by scoring the goal that rescued a point.

The Anchors trailed in the first half before Mikey Roberts levelled at the end of the half. Stocksbridge then regained the lead which was held until Fowler found the net.

Reflecting on the game, Fowler said: “I enjoyed it and it was always going to be tough having not played a game for two weeks but I thought we dealt with it well.

“They are a strong outfit and it is only just the start of a very long season.”

Fowler built on the end of his Pre-Season which saw him score in a win against Sunderland RCA before he netted a brace in a 2-1 win at Norton & Stockton Ancients.

It is exactly the reason the forward was brought to the club and a strong start to life as an Anchor.

On his debut strike, Fowler said: “Mickey (Dunwell) and the rest of the management brought me in to score goals so it’s always nice to be doing that. I am confident there will be many more to add with three points next time .

“I personally feel great and we have had a tough Pre-Season and we are all feeling the benefits of that coming into the season.”
