Stockton Town conceded a stoppage time goal as they suffered a devastating defeat at Hebburn Town.Â
Captain Adam Nicholson gave the Anchors the lead shortly after half time before Amar Purewal levelled from the penalty spot.
Substitute Olly Martin won it for the Hornets in stoppage time when he curled in a beauty of a strike.
Manager Michael Dunwell named just one change to the team that drew 2-2 against Stockbridge Park Steels with Callum Roberts in for Niall Frampton between the sticks.
Stockton had an excellent chance just after the quarter hour mark when neat work played in Michael Fowler but he could he only drag his strike wide.
More promising play saw Glen Butterworth find space on the right wing and send in a dangerous cross that just evaded its target.
Later in the half, Kev Hayes went close when he cut inside and sent a low strike a goal that was saved by Shaun Newbrook.
Newbrook then produced a ridiculous save just before half time when he denied a Tom Coulthard header from a corner.
Shortly after half time, Stockton had their goal when Captain Nicholson headed in Butterworth’s corner at the back post.
Hebburn almost levelled minutes later but Robbie Spence sent his effort wide after good play.
The home side were handed route back into the game when they were inexplicably awarded a penalty. Amar Purewal stepped up and converted to tie the game up.
The final 25 minutes of the game opened up and it became an open contest. Hebburn Town took that opportunity when Martin picked up on a loose ball before he fired into the top corner from range. It was a true ‘sickener’ for the Anchors.
