Stockton travelled to the only team to beat them last Season, Prudhoe Town, looking to continue to close the gap at the top of the Wearside League table. Returning to the starting eleven were Michael Arthur, Adam Nicholson, David Dowd, Chris Dunwell, Tony Johnson and Ben Priestley from Wednesdays victory over Hartlepool FC.
The game started at a frantic pace with Stockton forcing an early corner and after Prudhoe failed to clear the ball Tom Coulthard was on hand to fire in his first of the Season on 2 minutes. Stockton were now pulling the Prudhoe defence all over and how the score remained 1 0 will be hard to understand as Tony Johnson, Chris Stockton and Stav Roberts all spurned chances and from another corner Adam Nicholson’s shot hit the Prudhoe goalkeeper on the line and bounced out.

Having weathered the early Stockton onslaught the next 2 chances fell the way of Prudhoe when after a mix up in Stockton’s defence the Prudhoe Centre Forward fired over with only Stockton’s keeper to beat and minutes later a similar situation led to another wasted chance to equalise.
As half time approached Stockton regained control of the game and from a number of corners failed to bring the Prudhoe Town keeper into action.
Stockton started the second half equally as quickly as they did the first half when they doubled their lead within 2 minutes. Great work down the left by Ben Priestley saw him beat a couple of men, cut inside to play a one two with Max Craggs and his first time pass found Tony Johnson with the simplest of chances for 2 0.

A number of changes for Stockton saw the introduction of Joe Scaife Wheatley, Matty Lovatt and Louis Whensley with Joe Scaife Wheatley being extremely prominent down the right with his close control, passing and workrate. This saw Stockton see the game out comfortably to claim all 3 points which sees them remain 3rd in the League.
Next up is a visit from Boldon CA this Saturday 5th September with a 2 30pm kick off.
