Ashbrooke Belford House FC v Stockton Town FC

Stockton Town retained the Wearside League Championship with this 3-0 win at Ashbrooke Belford House.

This proved to be a record breaking result for Stockton who are now unbeaten in 50 Wearside League Games a remarkable achievement for the Club, Players and Management Team.

Leading goalscorer Kallum Hannah took his tally to 53 goals with 2 goals but it fell to Adam Nicholson in his 179th appearance for the Club to score Stockton Town’s 500th league goal in senior football.

The Wearside League Title was virtually wrapped up with 2 goals in 5 minutes, Kallum Hannah fired in a Max Craggs cross after 24 minutes, then came the Clubs 500th goal when a Max Craggs free kick was headed in by Adam Nicholson just 5 minutes later in the 29th minute.

The second half started in the same way the first half had gone with Stockton dominating possession and it was no surprise when they increased their lead.

Matthew Garbutt slid the ball through for Kallum Hannah in the left channel 35 yards from goal. As the Ashbroooke defence tried to get to Stockton’s forward Kallum produced a sublime finish with a dinked chip over the advancing keeper to make it 3-0.

It was all over for Ashbrooke when Iain Potts was shown a straight red card after 63 minutes for disputing a clear Stockton corner.

Ashbrooke battled with 10 men but Kallum Hannah was gifted a chance to get his hat trick, in the 4th minute of injury time when Ben Priestley and defender Mason Burton went in for a cross with Priestley finishing on his back. Much to everyone’s surprise the referee awarded a penalty that Hannah took but the Ashbrooke keeper went the right way and saved Hannah’s low shot to his right.

This victory clinched Stockton Town the Wearside League Title for the 3rd consecutive year, the challenge is now can the Club remain unbeaten for the Season.
