With five games remaining in Stockton Town’s debut Premier Division season, the Anchors are well in the race for the playoff places.
Michael Dunwell’s side come into the game in 4th place after a six-game unbeaten streak, following a superb victory at FC United of Manchester last weekend, in front of an incredible travelling support.
Josh Scott scored the lone goal of the game in the 5th minute, sneaking a strike past the goalkeeper, taking his tally up to 10 for the season.
THE OPPOSITION
Many Anchors fans will remember Worksop Town from their dominant campaign in the East Division two years ago, where the Tigers finished on 99 points, losing only once – on opening day at the Map Group UK Stadium.
After losing out in the playoff semi-final last season, Craig Parry’s side are looking to go one better this time around, currently sitting in second place with a playoff spot already confirmed.
Parry’s Tigers also have a phenomenal 11-game winning streak in all competitions to their name, dating back to the end of January. They have only conceded seven goals in this run too.
The Nottinghamshire based squad share a lot of similarities to the side that won the East Division title in 2023, with the dominant captain Hamza Bencherif still solidifying the backline, and that years top scorer, striker Liam Hughes, with 22 goals to his name.
Prior to last weekend’s victory over Lancaster, Worksop announced the permanent signing of midfielder Joe Leesley from Darlington, who has shined since he joined on loan earlier in the season, and is one to watch from set-pieces.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
The two sides have faced off five times before, meeting in the East Division for two seasons.

PRE-MATCH QUOTES
Stockton Town manager Michael Dunwell spoke ahead of this test following victory over FC United of Manchester on Saturday by saying:
“The games between us have always been close and there’s always been a single goal in it. They’re absolutely flying, and we’re trying to finish as high as we can. Playoffs aren’t confirmed yet by a long shot, there is plenty of football to be played, and it’ll be another very tough game.
“Worksop are the second best team in the league, and we’ve got to be at our best, just like we have for our last few games, but we’ll go like we always do to try and win the game.”
