LIVE COMMENTARY: Anchors Radio (mixlr.com)

Stockton Town swiftly return to action tomorrow when they welcome Whitby Town to the MAP Group UK Stadium.

Yesterday the Anchors suffered their second loss this week as they went down 4-1 at Hyde United. Although it was not as bad as the scoreline suggested. Stockton had chances and were on top in spells throughout the match but came up against a clinical Hyde United attack. The result put Hyde top of the embryonic league table.

Arjun Purewal made his debut as an Anchor and netted his first goal for the club. There was also a first start of the season for midfielder Shane Henry.

Michael Dunwell will be expected to make changes for tomorrow’s game against Whitby given its sudden arrival.

THE OPPOSITION

Whitby Town, who have competed in the Northern Premier League Premier Division since 1998, are 10th and have taken seven points from their first five games.

Nathan Haslam’s side were beaten 3-2 at home by Macclesfield on Saturday. A brace from Tom Clare put the Silkmen in command before Joseph Gibson pulled a goal back with his second of the season. But Macclesfield regained their two-goal lead through John Rooney just a minute later. A Stephen Walker penalty in the dying minutes ensured a respectable scoreline for the Seasiders.

On their travels they have had much more joy with two wins from two games. They were 2-0 winners at Matlock Town and followed it up with a 1-0 win at Warrington Rylands.

The players to watch for Whitby Town include former Hartlepool United Winger Nathan Thomas, Ex-Scarborough Athletic striker Jake Charles and the aforementioned Boro Academy product Joe Gibson.
