Stockton Town face another big home game when they welcome Sheffield FC to the MAP Group UK Stadium.

The Anchors suffered their first home league defeat of the season last Saturday when they went down 2-0 in a measly display against Carlton Town.

It was a good showing from the fans as 1007 turned out to back the Anchors- the largest crowd of the season.

In the following outing at Consett trailed 2-0 before two second half goals from Michael Sweet and Adam Nicholson rescued a point. They were unfortunate not to win the game with a dubious offside call to blame.

THE OPPOSITION

The World’s Oldest Football Club did appear under threat of relegation to Step 5 earlier this season but some good form recently has seen them steer clear to comfortable mid table.

They currently sit 12th with 44 points from 31 games and have a very faint chance of making the Play-Offs. It would rely on them winning out combined with a number of other teams dropping points.

Last time out they suffered their first defeat in six matches as they conceded a stoppage time winner at Belper Town.

Luke Mangham is the man to watch. The former Stocksbridge striker has hit double figures for the season with 13.

PRE-MATCH QUOTES

Speaking to Anchors TV, Manager Michael Dunwell looked ahead to the game:

“We’re at home and I think the fans deserve a good performance after last Saturday’s not-so-good performance.

“We’re looking forward to it, we were in for light session on Wednesday preparing to get three points against Sheffield.”
