Stockton Town look to open the New Year the same way in which they ended 2023, as Ossett United make the visit to the MAP Group UK Stadium. Â
Despite the disappointment of last weekend’s postponed game at Newton Aycliffe, the Anchors go into the game on the back of an eight game winning streak following Boxing Day’s hard-fought victory over Consett.
The Anchors overcame a 2-1 deficit last time out, after Consett didn’t let Stephen Thompson’s first minute opener hold for very long.
But Mikey Roberts’ goal in first-half injury time followed up by Kevin Hayes’ second-half strike secured a huge victory over The Steelmen.
The postponed game at Newton Aycliffe will now take place on Tuesday 30th January.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
Stockton and Ossett have faced off six times since the Anchors’ promotion into the Northern Premier League East Division in 2021, as well as the sides meeting in the FA Cup back in August of 2021.
Here are the previous five results between the two sides:
7 September 2021 – Ossett United 2-1 Stockton Town – Northern Premier League East Division
19 March 2022 – Stockton Town 4-0 Ossett United – Northern Premier League East Division
16 August 2022 – Ossett United 0-3 Stockton Town – Northern Premier League East Division
7 January 2023 – Stockton Town 1-1 Ossett United – Northern Premier League East Division

THE OPPOSITION
‘The Sheepicorns’ have had a difficult start to the 2023/24 season, sitting 17th in the table on 19 points in their opening 19 games.
After parting ways with their manager just before Christmas, former Assistant Manager David Brown is the interim Head Coach of the game.
Experienced striker Alex Peterson is the one-to-watch for the South Yorkshire based side, with seven league goals to his name already this season.
