They did earn their first victory of the season on Saturday as they came from behind to beat Ashington 2-1 and secure their place in the FA Cup First Qualifying Round.

THE OPPOSITION

Bridlington Town come into the game after weekend off due to no FA Cup action. The Seasiders FA Cup campaign ended at the first hurdle when they lost to Northern League club Bishop Auckland 3-0.

In the league they are awaiting their first victory. The season opener saw them defeated 3-1 at Dunston UTS. Last Tuesday they came from two goals down to draw 2-2 at home to Grimsby Borough. New signing Glen Sani popped up with a stoppage time equaliser.

In addition to Sani they have also added full-back Alex Markham and winger Cameron Cunningham who may recognisable to Anchors fans for his time North Shields.

Striker Lewis Dennison remains with the club, he was their top scorer last season with 20 goals.

PRE-MATCH QUOTES

Looking ahead to the game, Manager Michael Dunwell said:

“I think you can get a bit too down because we haven’t won two of our opening matches but we haven’t played badly. I thought we were really good on Tuesday night at Hebburn Town but some decision didn’t go our way.

“We are looking to get our first three points in the league and kick on from there.”

Speaking after his winner over Ashington, Kev Hayes looked ahead:

“I am looking forward to the Bridlington game. It’s good to get a quick turnover after a positive result and I am more than confident we can our first three points to really kick start the season.”
