Stockton Town continue their action-packed August with a trip to Hyde United.

Following three wins out of the three, the Anchors succumbed to their first defeat on Tuesday as they fell 2-1 at Morpeth Town.

Michael Dunwell’s men were hit with a whirlwind as the Highwaymen struck two goals in the opening 15 minutes through Sam Hodgson and Nic Bollado. The former coming back to haunt Stockton after a loan spell with the club in 2022-23.

Stockton came into the game in the second half thanks to Adam Nicholson’s first of the season but they were unable to conjure up an equaliser.

On a positive note, Shane Henry returned to action and adapted quickly to the pace of the game. Arjun Purewal was also fit enough to be named on the bench.

Dunwell will look to make the most of his squad this weekend with a home game against Whitby Town scheduled less than 48 hours later.

THE OPPOSITION

Hyde United have made a strong start to the season and currently reside in 2nd after four games. Manager Neil Spooner is targeting a Play-Off spot this season after guiding them to back-to-back 6th-place finishes.

The Tigers began the season with a goalless draw at home against Mickleover but since then they have recorded three-straight wins against Bamber Bridge, Matlock Town and Basford United.

Striker Jack Redshaw,  who started out in the Manchester City academy, has had a good start to the season with four goals including a hattrick at Matlock Town. He has been a prolific marksman throughout his career in the EFL and Non-League. Last season he hit 21 goals for Hyde.

Another player with EFL experience is Harry Bunn. Son of former Striker Oldham Athletic Frankie,  Bunn had a notable spell with Huddersfield Town where he made 91 appearances and scored 15 goals. This season he is off the mark after scoring in the midweek win over Basford.
