Stockton Town return to league action when they make the trip to Hyde United.
The Anchors will hope to resume their mini revival which was halted by last Saturday’s FA Trophy exit at Warrington Rylands. All four goals came in the second half with Calum Costello, who was sent off in the league, scoring a brace while George Waring added the third. Owen Gallacher scored the Anchors’ consolation goal for his second goal for the club.
Prior to that game Stockton had produced an excellent home performance in the league against Bamber Bridge with a 5-2 win – only their second of the campaign which followed on from a 1-1 draw at Warrington Rylands in the league fixture.
The Anchors enter the latest league fixture in the final relegation place but are within three points of opponents Hyde who are currently 15th.
Hyde flirted with relegation last season before the appointment of former Macclesfield boss Michael Clegg who steered them to a 15th-place finish. Their end of season run included a 3-0 win over Stockton Town at the end of March.
Presently they are searching for their first league win since the end of August when they beat Bury 2-1 at the Project Solar Stadium. They did pick up a win in the FA Trophy last Saturday with a 2-0 triumph over FC United of Manchester.
Looking ahead to Stockton Town’s third-ever visit to Hyde United, Michael Dunwell said: “We’ve got to put in a better performance than we did today (at Rylands) and we have to work harder off the ball. We need to start taking the chances we create because some of them are easy chances and then we’ll start to move up the league.”
Focusing on the game against Stockton, Michael Clegg said: “They’re a really top side (Stockton Town) it’s going to be really difficult. We have proven this year already that every game is very difficult but if we can build on today (2-0 win over FC United) and get back-to-back wins which is something we have not done yet.”
