Just five games remain on Stockton Town’s 2025/26 campaign, and the playoffs remain the end goal for the Anchors.

Michael Dunwell’s team picked up a huge three points against playoff rivals Gainsborough Trinity on Friday afternoon, and will now take that positive momentum to Hebburn.

Jake Petitjean scored the lone goal of the game just before the half-time whistle, which proved decisive in the end.

Stockton now sit on 58 points from 35 games, placing them in the final playoff position, two points above Gainsborough in 6th, and three behind Warrington Rylands in 4th, with two games in hand on Warrington & them still to play on the final day.

THE OPPOSITION

Hebburn have the chance to confirm their playoff position against the Anchors with a win, but in the bigger picture, the Hornets have their sights set on a league title.

Daniel Moore’s side sit in second place in their second season in the NPL, just one point behind FC United of Manchester, however FC still have to play Stockton in a game in hand.

Gary Martin leads the squad in goals, and has all but confirmed the league’s golden boot award already. He has 22 goals to his name, seven clear of Ewan Bange in second place.

Liam Murray, Olly Martin and Campbell Darcy are other threats in the forward line for Hebburn, as well as deadline day acquisition Matty Cornish, who is dual-registered with Darlington.

Stockton have gotten the better of Hebburn in their two meetings this season, but haven’t had a lot of success at the ‘Sportsy’ in recent years – their last win in South Tyneside coming in 2022.

PRE-MATCH QUOTES

Anchorscaptain Adam Nicholson looked ahead to the clash after his Man of the Match display against Gainsborough Trinity, stating:

“We have to take it game-by-game. Everyone has everyone to play. The setbacks we’ve had this year, the injuries we’ve had – if anything could’ve happened this season, it has, and it’s an ode to the group we’ve got here. When we’re firing, there’s not many better, so if we all stay fit, we have to keep working hard and go to Hebburn and give it a good go.”
