Manager Dunwell wants big turnout

Michael Dunwell has urged the Stockton public to back the Anchors starting with Saturday’s home game against Carlton Town.

Stockton Town currently sit top of the Northern Premier League East Division and are in a prime position to gain promotion to the Premier Division- Step 3 of Non-League Football and the seventh tier of the pyramid overall.

“The fans can be massive. I am hoping for the remaining three home games we can get close to 1000 and I don’t see why not,” Dunwell said.

“We are in a great position, highest we have ever been, we have achieved the most points we have ever had at this level.

“Our remaining three home games are huge, we just need more people to turn up to support us and get us over that line.”

Stockton Town’s biggest crowd this season came on Boxing Day when 993 watched as the Anchors overcame Consett 3-2.

In the previous two seasons Stockton have recorded a gate of over 1000 during the regular season twice with 1,208 turning out to witness a 1-0 win over Shildon on New Year’s Day 2022 and then 1,014 for last season’s opener against Worksop Town

.“When we do get large crowds in, it really does help push the players on”

“Hopefully we can give them something to celebrate come the end of the season.”
