Lewis King says he ‘can’t wait’ for Saturday’s game following a ‘long and frustrating’ week.
The Anchors suffered a hammer blow to their title aspirations last Saturday when they went down 1-0 at Basement Boys Winterton Rangers. Adam Bartham’s solitary goal was enough to give the strugglers all three points.
Stockton now face a huge game against Brighouse Town at home on Saturday and a win is needed to at least second place for a home route through the Play-Offs.
“I think everyone involved with the club can’t wait for Saturdays game, we are hoping there will big crowd at the game, which I’m sure there will be, to help the lads get over the line.
“It’s been a long and frustrating week after last week’s performance and we can’t wait to get back out there and put it right,” King said.
The Anchors will need a big backing from the fans again and with no Middlesbrough game at all this Saturday, it is the hottest ticket on Teesside.
The fans turned out in their numbers once again last Saturday and were excellent despite the result.
On the fans, King said: “The fans are absolutely massive for us and they know it.
“Hopefully Saturday they will turn up in their numbers and help us achieve our goal whether that be winning the league or going up via the Play-Offs.
“They motivate the lads and we appreciate their support massively.”
Stockton’s recent dip in form coupled with a tremendous run from Hebburn Town has seen the league tilt in the favour of the Hornets.They require wins in three of their four final games to secure the league title.
Despite the adversity, King is still confident in the Anchors: “Obviously results haven’t gone our way this week and the winning the league is no longer in our favour however, we certainly still believe that we have the best squad in the league and that we are more than capable of being promoted.
“It’s going to take one final big push but we are more than confident we can achieve our goal.”
