Jacob Johnson signs First Team contract

Stockton Town are delighted to announce Jacob Johnson has signed a contract with the club.

Johnson has graduated through the Stockton Juniors section and has played a prominent role with the Under-18s during recent seasons.

He trained with the first team last season and was named on the bench for the 1-0 win at Stocksbridge Park Steels.

Along with Jack Spears, he has featured heavily this Pre-Season and scored in the 3-0 win at Crook Town.

Commenting on Johnson, Manager Michael Dunwell said: “Jacob has been with our under 18’s for the past two seasons he has moved up to the first team squad this season and has made some really impressive and confident displays in Pre-Season. Another player to come through our juniors which shows once again how we look to promote from within.

“I am sure there will be a few more coming through this season as Jack Spears, Tom Birtles and Dan Dryden have shown so far this Pre-Season in particular Jack who has scored four in the games he has played. Those 3 are still part of the 18’s set up looking to break through.”Johnson’s U18 manager, Paddy Davis added: Jacob was a very influential player for us, his drive and energy pushed the rest of the team to also meet those expectations. He was a big presence on the training pitch and in the dressing room. He’s a top lad and it just shows the progression that we have at this club.”
