Rebecca Morris graduated Stockton Sixth Form College in 2023, where she spent two years in our Girls Football Academy, and has since moved across the pond to Connecticut, United States where she is flourishing on a university scholarship in the women’s football team at NCAA Division II’s University of Bridgeport.
‘Becca’, as she’s known to her teammates, speaks highly of her time at Stockton Sixth Form and its accompanying football program, by opening with: “I would highly recommend Stockton Sixth Form College and its football program. It is a great opportunity to advance as a player alongside achieving academic goals. The coaches and facilities really helped me develop as a player and reach my football goals.
“The college offers a great range of courses and I thoroughly enjoyed the A-level courses I took. My lecturers at Stockton Sixth Form were extremely supportive with helping me advance to further education achieving my results and with my USA university scholarship process.”
The former Middlesbrough FC defender further describes how well the football program works alongside her studies by stating: “The football program was timetabled alongside my studies, which allowed me to attend daily training sessions and play weekly games without affecting my academic studies. Within the football programme, we had at least an hour of training a day as well as classroom sessions which involved watching film and learning more about sports psychology, helping us understand the game more and reach the next level.”
She also adds on some of her favourite benefits that are included as part of the program, highlighting a few by saying: “One of my favourite bonuses of the football program was the connection with Teesside University which involved performance testing with the students at the university and access to sports injury and massage clinic. Being able to review and analyse film provided by the program was also very helpful in individual development.”
The tough-tackling defender closed by mentioning a special attainment in which the program helped her achieve: “Through the college and Stockton Town FC, I was also able to gain my football coaching badge and get experience working as a coach within the club. I am so grateful for the support of the coaches within the program and I would highly recommend it.”
