Stockton Town Football Club are delighted to confirm they will face newly-promoted National League North side Scarborough Athletic in pre-season.
The Anchors will travel to the Flamingo Land Stadium on Saturday 16th July with kick-off at 3pm – as preparations for a second season in the Northern Premier League East Division get underway.
It will be the first time Michael Dunwell’s side have ever faced the Seadogs in any fixture – with the North Yorkshire outfit preparing for life as a Step 2 side for the first time since reforming in 2007.
Scarborough – managed by former York City, Manchester United and Middlesbrough midfielder Jonathan Greening – finished third in the Northern Premier League Premier Division last season, five points inside the play-off positions.
The Seadogs then secured their promotion into the National League’s second tier with a win over Matlock Town in the semi-final, and then Warrington Town in the final in front of a club record crowd of 2,805 in May.
The Anchors are heading into their second season as a Step 4 side following a successful maiden campaign in the Northern Premier League.
Dunwell’s side finished fourth in the East Division and overcame Cleethorpes Town in the play-off semi-final in a tense encounter in North Lincolnshire.
Stockton narrowly missed out on promotion with a narrow defeat at local rivals Marske United in the play-off final.
Coach travel will be available for all Stockton Town away matches in the 2022/23 season, and further pre-season information will also be released soon.
