Anchors sign Striker Michael Fowler

Stockton Town are delighted to announce the signing of Striker Michael Fowler.

Fowler, who started his career with Sunderland AFC, has spent the last 18 months at Dunston UTS. During his season and a half with the club he netted 28 goals in the Northern Premier League East Division.

He arrived at Dunston following a spell in the USA with Coastal Carolina Chanticleers. Before that he played at Sunderland before moving onto Burnley where he was a prolific scorer in the youth team. He has plenty of non-league experience having had loan spells at FC United of Manchester, Guiseley and Bamber Bridge.

Having played at the same level as Stockton for the last 18 months, the allure of the Anchors was something that enticed Fowler to the MAP Group UK Stadium.

He said: “I think anyone at this level knows how attractive of a football club stockton is . The standard in football, the ground , the fans and management all play a part in that.

“The fans can expect to see lots of goals,  hard work and ultimately making myself a nuisance to play against.”

Fowler continued: “The signing came about really from knowing the staff from playing against them for 18 months. I’ve spoke to the management a few times , they told me what they were looking for and I felt I could be a great addition to help push one step further and win the league this year.”

Fowler is not unfamiliar to Stockton. He has scored twice against the Anchors during his time with Dunston. Once in a 2-1 Dunston win back in February 2022 and most recently in the Durham Challenge Cup Quarter Final back in December which Dunston won 3-1.

On securing Fowler, Manager Michael Dunwell said: “We are very excited to have him with us. We have played against him a few times now and he’s always caused us problems and scored goals. Our own players have commented on how good he’s been against them.

“He’s a great finisher and has great movement, he was Dunston’s top scorer last season and has always scored goals and I’m sure he will do the same for us.. He will be a great addition to our squad.”
