Anchors sign Striker Josh Scott

Stockton Town are delighted to announce the signing of forward Joshua Scott.

The 23-year-old joins the club from West Auckland Town, where he has been prolific in front of goal – notably scoring 37 league goals for West in their Northern League Division One campaign last season.

After finding the net against the Anchors in pre-season, the former Hartlepool United prodigy already has 11 league goals to his name in his name this season, and scored a hat-trick last time out for West in the Durham Challenge Cup.

Before joining West Auckland in the summer of 2023, Scott showcased his talents at local clubs such as Marske United, Blyth Spartans and Morpeth Town, as well as loan spells at Mickleover, Basford United and Kettering Town whilst on a professional contract at Mansfield Town.

Upon joining the Anchors, Scott explained his excitement on the transfer by saying: “I’m buzzing to have signed for Stockton. When I got told about the opportunity to take the step up it was a no brainer.

“They are a team that is constantly looking to improve and push up the leagues. They have got a great foundation which is allowing the club to push year on year.

“I spoke with the gaffer before signing and he spoke to me about how the team play and their ambitions going forward and it was something that excited me and wanted to be apart of.

I know some of the players already and there is a lot of quality within the squad.”

The striker has also described what Stockton fans can expect to see from him on the pitch by explaining: “The supporters can expect someone that leaves everything on the pitch, I like to hold the ball up and link the play but can also stretch the opposition. The main thing for a striker is to score goals, so hopefully I can bring a lot of those for the club.”

Manager Michael Dunwell also spoke on his new addition by saying: “It’s very exciting to have Josh join us. He will certainly bring goals to the team and also competition for places at the top end of the pitch.

“He’s already into double figures this season and I’m looking forward to him doing the same for us.”

Josh is eligible for selection during tomorrow’s trip to Warrington Rylands.
