Anchors rue missed opportunities

North Shields got their revenge for the recent League Cup reversal with an excellent second half display, but Stockton had good opportunities in the first 30 minutes of this game to build a cushion. At this level against top quality sides you have to take your chances and The Robins showed plenty of quality to win the match . Hayes and then Stockton denied by a great tackle and a great save, should have opened the scoring but when it did come after 24mins it was worth the wait, a trademark Kev HAYES left foot curler with pace from 22 yards flying into the far corner (check it out on twitter). Shields missed one great chance, but their best moments came in the second half. MASON ran 50 yards and finished nicely for a fine individual goal and Shields legend Gareth BAINBRIDGE came off the bench to give them the lead on 75 minutes. It was BAINBRIDGE again on 89 who, unmarked in the box, hammered a shot over Jordan to make it 3-1.

The Anchors just coming up short in the last 2 games against some of the very best the League has to offer. On to the biggest game in the clubs short history next week.
