Anchors record pre-season win at Scarborough Athletic

Elliot Beddow scored his first goal for the club as Stockton Town got their first win of pre-season with a 3-1 triumph at National League North outfit Scarborough Athletic.

Liam Cooke, Shane Henry, Nathan Mulligan and Elliot Beddow all came into the starting line-up following the midweek goalless draw with Bishop Auckland.

The Anchors made the perfect start when Nathan Mulligan’s corner was headed back across the six-hard box by Adam Nicholson and turned home by Beddow for his first goal in a Stockton shirt.

The Anchors doubled their lead when Nicholson billeted home after the Scarborough goalkeeper failed to gather N.Mulligan’s corner.

Scarborough got somewhat of a foothold in the game and pulled a goal back when Michael Coulson converted past Callum Roberts.

The Seadogs almost levelled the game when Dylan Cogill got through but his effort struck the post, and Trialist B fired the rebound high over the bar.

Shortly after the hour mark, Stockton restored their two-goal lead when N.Mulligan fired in a stunning free-kick from 25-yards.

Scarborough almost reduced the deficit when Darren Dom Tear turned well in the penalty area before he fired against the crossbar.

The Anchors closed out the win to claim a morale-boosting win over a the newly-promoted Seadogs.

Next up for the Anchors is home game against Teesside rivals Guisborough Town on Wednesday evening.
