Anchors make winning start to Pre-Season

Stockton Town made a postive start to Pre-Season with victory at Consett

Second half goals from Jack Spears and a a Tralist were enough for the win.

Manager Michael Dunwell named a squad mixed with new signings, trialists and U18s among usual First Team players.

Consett hit the post in the opening ten minutes when a corner almost found its way in.

Minutes later Kev Hayes cut inside before firing over the bar.

Then Elliott Beddow had two decent headed chances which he put narrowly wide on both occasions.

There were a number of changes for the second half as Arjun Purewal, Owen Gallacher and a number of trialists came on.

The opener came when a cross from the left was headed in Spears.

Spears headed in again nine minutes later but he was flagged for offside.

Consett then had a spell in the game. Ben Ramsey, tormentor back on Easter Monday, drilled a shot wide from range.

Then he was denied by a couple of decent saves by the Anchors trialist goalkeeper.

With a quarter hour remaining, Stockton secured the win when a trialist got on the end of a long ball and tucked past the on-rushing goalkeeper
