Stockton hit the top of the ENL form table making it 6 League wins in a row following a dominant performance scoring seven times in a game where although Washington to their credit kept going, contributed to their own downfall with defensive errors and indecision. HAYES scored the first with a lovely curled shot into the far corner, Washington’s GIBBON turned a Woodhouse cross into his own net shortly after. Washington had a rare foray forward and the resulting free kick was headed home by PICKARD but Stockton restored the cushion through OWENS after a woeful mix up by Washington, Nathan MULLIGAN volleyed home and then OWENS made it 5-1 on the stroke of half time. PICKARD raised Washington’s morale a little when he curled in a beauty just after the restart but after several near misses Chris STOCKTON capitalised on a Chimbonda mistake to make it 6, Sonni COLEMAN finished the scoring at 7-2. The Anchors are flying now and the confidence showed tonight. 3 tough games to come in the next week though without the suspended Mulligan and Hayes who have been so important in this run, so a crucial point of this exciting season approaches and opportunities for lads off the bench to impress. Another healthy crowd too was a plus side on a cold damp night.
