Almost two-hundred Stockton Town supporters participated in a poll to vote for their August player of the month and their choice was clear. With 48% of the vote, the accolade goes to Mikey Roberts.
The forward has been a hit with Anchors fans since joining from Northern League champions Marske United, having turned down promotion in favour of joining his hometown club.
Roberts endeared himself immediately by scoring an equaliser that earned an excellent point at Shildon on the opening day of the season. He has since gone on to score five in his first six league games for the club, a tally which has seen him rise to second on the division’s top goalscorer charts.
Roberts edged out James Risbrough and fellow new signing Peter Bulmer, who earned 25% and 16% of the vote respectively.
Congratulations to Mikey and hopefully the goals will continue to flow for him and The Anchors into September.
