Mikey Roberts equaliser before half-time earned Stockton Town a point at North Shields.Â
Cameron Cunningham’s goal on the half hour mark opened the scoring for the hosts.
The Robins were reduced to ten men with four minutes to go in the first half.
Two minutes later M.Roberts levelled for the Anchors which proved to be the final goal action in the game.
Manager Michael Dunwell named an unchanged side from the one that set aside Lincoln United with comfort on Saturday.
Stockton had their first effort of the game when Glen Butterworth struck from range but North Shields goalkeeper Aaron Steavens was down to save.
In the 13th minute, the Anchors hit the post when M.Roberts deep cross was headed against the post by Kev Hayes.
M.Roberts then had a go himself when he forced a save from Steavens after taking down a cross field pas.
However it was North Shields who took the lead when a great ball in was glanced in by Cunningham.
The home side’s game plan became a different matter when Connor Oliver was shown a straight red card for dissent.
The ten-men barely held on before Stockton levelled when M.Roberts finished with a great strike inside the area.
In the second half, Stockton rallied for a winner. In the 54th minute, Adam Nicholson and Matty Tymon were denied- Nicholson saw his effort blocked before a Tymon effort from point-blank was saved by Steavens.
Tom Coulthard then came close when a free-kick was headed down into his path and his sent an effort wide.
Lewis King, buoyed by his goal on Saturday, drove forward and sent a strike at Steavens which the goalkeeper was again equal to.
Stockton Town had to settle for a point on the road. There was some unfortunate post match news with goal scorer Mikey Roberts ruled out for six weeks minimum with a fractured ankle.
The Anchors are back in action on Saturday when they make the trip to Cleethorpes Town.
